Bob
Lacey
As a child growing up in Old Lyme, Conn., BOB LACEY bused
tables and washed dishes at his father's restaurant and
fully understood that food service was not to be his life's
calling.
He
took his first job as a radio newsreader at the tender
age of 18, after realizing that his career fronting
a New England rock band would never get him on the airwaves.
He says his attraction to the industry stemmed from
hanging out with deviant show biz types back stage at
The Doors and The Byrds shows.
Sheri
Lynch
She began her career in television, writing and producing
paranoia-inducing news teases. Having tired of warning
the world about the dangers lurking in dirty restaurant
kitchens and sketchy daycare centers, she agreed to
create a commercial for a new radio program. Enter Bob
Lacey, wearing one of his favorite preppy outfits. "Lose
the red sweater," she suggested. "You don't
want to look like an elf, right?" To pay her back
for that disrespect, Bob invited her to be his guest
on-air. That was a meeting of soul mates, and the beginning
of the long, happy Bob & Sheri partnership.

Allen
James
Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Allen got the radio
bug early, working at a small station in Guthrie, Oklahoma
while still in high school. He worked at several stations
around the Oklahoma City market with formats that include
R&B, adult contemporary, country, oldies, news/talk,
and Christian talk.
In 1994, Allen moved to Florida and took over operations
at a station in the small town of Hernando, which aired
Big Band music and Standards of the 1930's and 40's. 4
years later, he found himself in the Gainesville radio
market, and has been here ever since.
And now, Allen James welcomes you to "Allentown"
on Smooth 100.9. |

Tonia King hails originally from Pennsylvania. A musician
in her own right, she is a graduate of Boston's Berklee
College of Music. Tonia began her broadcasting career
in Boston in the 1980's. After cutting her teeth in greater
Boston, she moved on to become a Southern New England
drive-time radio personality at numerous stations. Her
on-air work is still heard in markets from Providence,
RI, to Philadelphia to San Francisco. By 1998 Tonia created
and debuted Jazz Variations, now internationally syndicated,
and airing on an ever-widening network of stations. In

Kaleidophonic
Jazz
A lifelong music collector and musician, Alan Olmstead
began spinning radio shows in college in the early 70's,
and has been ever since! As an owner of an advertising
agency in Northern California Alan began a local jazz
show in 1979 as a vehicle for his clients to reach the
audience with the taste and education that jazz appeals
to. His jazz variety show Kaleidophonic Jazz is now celebrating
30 years of syndication nationwide! During this period
he also programmed various stations evenings and weekends
in a New Age "Wave" styled format that was a
predecessor of today's Smooth Jazz sound, but his vision
included unique additional elements such as 50's cool
jazz, soft rock oldies and even light classical music.
He also has an "Americana" specialty show featuring
Bluegrass, Jazzgrass, Cajun, Western Swing, CountryRock
yet more flavors of uniquely American music that (like
jazz) gets very little airplay here in the country of
its origin. Alan welcomes your comments and feedback!
